Before there was The Rooted Barber Experience, there was Justin Rootham — known to his clients as J-Roots The Barber.
Justin didn’t just want to cut hair. He wanted to build something. A brand. A space. A community where men could walk in, feel at home, and leave looking their best. In 2022, that vision became The Rooted Barber Experience — established in Downtown Whitby, Ontario.
It wasn’t just a rebrand. It was an elevation of craft, of standard, and of what a barbershop could mean to a neighbourhood.

Word spread fast. The team grew. In February 2024, Rooted opened a second location in Oshawa, Ontario. By May 2024, the full team had made the move — bringing everything that made the original shop special into a bigger, better home at 15 Simcoe St S.
Oshawa didn’t just get a new barbershop. It got a destination.
